Fitting the rear fog light

I’m preparing the car for the MOT meaning that it still needs a rear fog light, first I thought about fitting it in the rear lights but it’s not allowed in Belgium because there is not enough distance between the rear light bulb and the stop light bulb and it could be confusing other traffic.

So I measured the distance from the ground to the rear bumper and there was just enough height to legally install the rear fog light.

Fitting the light was quite straight forward and in my opinion the result is not bad at all.

e-bay EFI

My best friend, always in the neighborhood to give me a hand if needed.

 Because I’m fed up with the problems with the carbs I decided to go for injection so I bought a complete system on e-bay witch a will have to clean and check before installing it.

 In the meantime I’m still trying to find out what’s wrong with the carbs.

Rev counter and other contacts

I also took the dash out to have a look at the rev counter;

found out it had some dirty contacts and

one blinker indicator light didn’t work also due

to a broken connection at the back of the instrument panel.

I replaced the blue plastic electric circuit by a spare one and all works fine now.

Cleaning the alloys

It has been raining and snowing all the time so I stayed inside the garage and gave the old alloys a good clean before they received the new tires.

Carburators still having problems

We had a lot of problems to get the carbs right and I tried all sorts of things to get the engine better running;

I installed the fuel pump near the tank and raised the float chamber level but nothing really made it work better.

New tyres arrived

In the meanwhile the new tires for the standard steel wheels arrived and have been fitted; size is 180/70/13H.

I received a new ‘old type’ wheel center from Robsport and I changed the center label.

 later the wheels went on the car for a driving test.

Rear bumper

It’s a long time since the last update but work on the car has been going on during the last months.

The rear bumper has been finished and mounted on to the car and the front bumper has been slightly better fitted.

 So now it was the moment to drive the car to a workshop to deal with the stubborn carburetors.

Driving by night because car is not road legal yet, lucky it's just around the corner 500m from my place...
