Finishing touches

A close up from the rear exhaust hole

Everything has been sanded with P300 but the whole care still needs to be sanded with P800 and P1000.

a last ground layer before some more fine sanding

Inner parts are my responsability

Wheelarches, spoilers and skirts, insides of the doors and boot and bonnet; everything has been fine sanded and is ready to be painted.

At this moment the car is completely finished and she is ready to go to the paintshop but due to the very bad weather conditions this has been delayed.
So no luck for me. At the moment we are dealing with a lot of snow so the car will be in the workshop for some more time. Next week is Christmass holiday this means the car will probably not be painted this year I guess.

More sanding to do

Some close up pictures of the rear skirt before the fine sanding.

I don't like to do this but it has to be done so again more sanding

and more sanding...

the exhaust holes in the rear skirt are also done.

Almost done

The car is ready to be fine sanded. I will sand the inside parts and the guy from the workshop who's the specialist will sand the complete body.

I've sanded the inside of the engine bay and the seams are also treated.

This way I can open the bonnet without having red cheeks.

doors, boot and bonnet

The doors and the bonnet are sprayed in a ground layer and just needs some fine sanding.

The holes I've drilled in the boot for the rear spoiler are shut welded again because in my opinion the spoiler is a bit to modern for the car this is not the case for the rest of the kit as the kit is integrated in to the body of the car but again this is my personel opinion. To be sure the rear spoiler will be painted along with the car so if I change my mind it can always be mounted on the car again.

The left hand side close to be finished.

Left hand side

There is still some work to do on the left hand side.

All these little corners and curves in the body need special attention and time; I will be glad when the car will be backing home so I can have a financial break.

The next weeks the work shop will be closed due to holiday so my plans to get the car back soon are again been delayed.

I want to have the car on the road in the spring of 2011 I think this will be a challenge as I got also other things to do on the house to keep the wife happy.

Finishing touches

The right hand side of the car gets closer to the finish line

although there is still some fine sanding to do to get the wedge line perfect.

The small difference is hardly noticeable but necessary to have a perfect result when the car gets here final color spray.

The work to the right front wheel panel and front spoiler is as good as done.

More sanding to do part 2

I’m very pleased with the results so far.

I’ve ordered the exhaust finishing parts last week so within a week or two the rear bumper skirt can be adapted and then the car will almost be ready for the paint job.

But I’m leaving the country for a few weeks for work so again it will be quiet on the blog just until August.

More sanding to do

The final shape is coming through.

Back to business

After the rally our attention went back to the car.

The rough surface has been sanded but it’s still not finished yet.

There will be quite a lot more hours of sanding to do.

Very noisy Saab

Some old Fiat’s and

a very loud two stroke Saab from Sweden.

Suicide doors.

Our car at the end of this stage; the driver thought he’d hit something but there was no damage to the car.
